The attitudes of companies run the gamut, including opposed, ignorant, indifferent, mildly supportive, and enthusiastic. But these attitudes are subject to change over time, so a company that embraces KM can suddenly eliminate it, and one that has been slow to adopt KM can quickly decide that it is essential.
Most companies offer some support, if only lip service, for knowledge management. They want to have the benefits, but may not want to invest for the long haul to implement a successful KM program.
Some have lived through unsuccessful implementations and thus have a negative view. Most companies are not afraid, but they may not provide sufficient resources, funding, leadership commitment, and ongoing support.
