  1. Explain to them what you have observed.
  2. Tell them why you think their work is sloppy.
  3. Specify what you want to them to change.
  4. Provide details on how you suggest they change.
  5. Explain what help is available to them to improve their work, including what you will do directly.
  6. Schedule a follow-up meeting to review progress.
  7. Practice what you preach; make sure your own work serves as a good example of how you want them to work.
  8. If their work improves, thank them for this and continue offering help and good examples.
  9. If their work does not improve, explain what the consequences will be.
  10. If they are in the wrong job, help them to find one that is a better fit.
